Helping the Islands Get Back on Their Feet Print E-mail

In the event of an emergency, whether it be a power outage, winter storm, or an earthquake, this section will help to provide critical info to the community. Disaster recovery will be a local effort, and we can count on little direct mainland help. All islanders will need to contribute to get our communities back on track as quickly as possible.

Facebook has a tool called Safety Check where they ask people in a confirmed disaster zone if they're OK. In addition, the American Red Cross has an online tool called Safe and Well for registering to let friends and family know you are OK.

If you've suffered damage from the event, please complete one of our disaster assessment forms as quickly as possible. Start by choosing "Report Damage" from the menu to the left.

Remember, use 911 sparingly after a disaster as resources will be limited. Use 911 only for life threatening or critical emergencies.
